Review - Collection Fast Stroke EyeLiner

Review - Collection Fast Stroke EyeLiner

Review - Collection Fast Stroke EyeLiner

Review - Collection Fast Stroke EyeLiner

I am the worst person ever when it comes to applying eyeliner but I love how it looks, it really does make a difference, however I never thought I would become addicted to wearing liquid liner - it’s all the fault of the Collection Fast Stroke Liner!

I received this from a Glossybox, ignored it and threw it in my stash and forgot. It wasn't until I was at my parents for a party and realised that I had no liner that my mum gave me this - she's not really a liner fan. So I tried it and fell in love.

Collection Fast Stroke is a nice wet liner that is really easy to apply, it glides on thanks to the felt tip like applicator in a thin line that is really black, it can be built up into a thicker liner, plus it stays put all day.

I love the applicator, it’s made applying it a lot easier, I can use the narrow tip to get into the lash line, or use the side to make it a tad thicker. I do tend to go with a narrow line, it just opens up the eye and that's what I need.

I can't find this on the Boots website to say how much this is, but knowing Collection it won’t break the bank.

I'm still learning with liquid liner, but this is a good starter liner - any tips? What do you think of liquid liner? xx

NOTD - Illamasqua Boosh

NOTD - Illamasqua Boosh

NOTD - Illamasqua Boosh

NOTD - Illamasqua Boosh

I seem to be gravitating towards lots of dark colours at the moment, black is my colour of the moment. I picked up Illamasqua's Boosh a while a back during a sale, but never got round to using it.

Boosh is a really true black polish that is really glossy. It applies really well, gliding onto the nails smoothly and evenly. I was worried about dragging but there wasn't any obvious lines, plus two coats leaves a gorgeous finish.

The brush is ok, its long and skinny, easy to move across the nail, the handle is nice and chunky so good to grip and handle. The formula lasted about 3 days before real obvious tip wear appeared, not bad for my first experience of Illamasqua.

I didn't want to wear this on its own, so I teamed it with Models Own Mirrorball to start the Xmas cheer - Look out for this one later in the week!

For £14.50, its quite expensive for a nail polish, but its gorgeous and one that I will reach for again in the future!

What do you think, have you tried any other Illamasqua nail polish? xx

Review - L'Oreal Elnett Heat Protect Spray (Volume)

Review - L'Oreal Elnett Heat Protect Spray (Volume)
L'Oreal Elnett Heat Protect Spray Volume £3.99
I seem to be using a lot of hair products at the moment, and my poor hair is really taking a beating so I'm trying to find a way to protect it and still wear my hair in the way I want! I've always used heat protection spray - loved the Lee Stafford one but after a while the smell is a bit much.

A while a go I picked up some heat styling spray from L'Oreal, what drew me to it was the fact it was supposed to help styles last 3 days and give volume. I have a lot of hair and if I don't dry it upside down then it can be very flat.

A fine mist that smells lovely, this spray evenly across the hair. I focus this all over, but with a little more on the ends to protect them. I love the spray function on this, its so nice to have a proper sprayer rather than a push down thingy (technical terminology!), I can never get that sprayed carefully enough.

It does protect my hair quite well, I haven't noticed any extra damage which is good. The claims of 3 days volume doesn't last on my hair, but thats because I wear it up at night due to being at the gym, but the volume does last all day.

For £5.99 this is well priced, it does last a really long time, I've had mine a couple of months and still have half the bottle left. Currently it's on offer at Boots for £3.99 which is reason enough to just stock up, hoping this will still be the case next weekend!

What do you think? Have you tried this or the other ones before? Did you have the Lee Stafford one? xx

WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!!!!

Yes, finally after saving solidly for 4year, we have found our first home!

Picture 1

It's a dinky, 2 bed, ground floor maisonettes on a purpose built area with a communal garden.

I wanted to tell you about this quite a few weeks ago, but couldn't as things went a tad wrong but its all sorted now.

At first, we were looking at getting a mortgage as part of the Government's 5% deposit scheme, we had the appointment and were given a promise of a mortgage. So I booked up a couple of viewings for the following week. We went on the Monday, saw the flat and decided to put an offer in the next day - it was love at first sight! Our offer was accepted straight away so we were chuffed.

We went back to the bank on the Saturday where we then put a full application through. We were assured that there would be no issues, however by the Monday something was wrong. A week later we found out we had been rejected, so the rush was on to get a new mortgage. A quick call to a broker and we were going through the process with Natwest, 2 weeks later we officially have a mortgage!

I'm planning on putting together a series of home buying posts as one of the things I've found so hard is what to do next. Both our parents bought their homes a long time ago so the system is very different. When we needed to ask questions, no one was able to give us the answer so I've decided to put this together, from offer to moving in, if you have any questions you want me to address then please let me know or email them to me and I will do my best.

I'm excited for this next chapter in our lives, hopefully I will be able to show you some more pictures soon!

Yay for new house!!! Xx

Sunday Make up Shake Up #21

Last week was a tough one, school hasn't been going so great, just when I think I've got the hang of Y6 something comes and pulls me back down. So I'm so glad to leave that week behind and move onto a new week, with some new picks from the makeup collection!

- Soap & Glory Wizard of Flaws Concealer - I can't remember when I got this, but having played with it this weekend I quite like it, not too dry but not too oily, hopefully it can stand up to the heat at work!
- Benefit Hello Flawless Foundation - The stress at work has taken its toll on my skin so I need a bit more coverage, plus this lasts really well.
- Blink and Go eye palette - This was in a Glossy box way back when and it hasn't been given much love as the colours are quite dark, but I fancy playing with them a bit at school.
- Smashbox Hyperlash Mascara - A good little mascara that creates the illusion of fuller, longer lashes on my short stubby ones!
- Collection Fast Stroke - I can't stay away from this, in need of a more dramatic eye this week - a bit like war paint.
- Benefit Bella Bamba - Love the rosy glow this gives, it’s just an all-round lovely blush to use!
- Rimmel Scandal Eyes Eye Kohl - to balance out the darkness, a nice nude liner to make me look awake, even if I'm not!

Hopefully this week will be a better week.
Which bits have you tried recently? How was your week? xx

Recipe - Spinach, Chorizo & Chickpea Soup

'Yummy, yummy, yummy I've got love in my tummy...(singing and dancing like Monica in the Kitchen) Hehe, I've finally had time to crack on with some cooking this weekend, it may have been a squeeze but I've got in it!

This week I made my soup for the week at work. I wanted something spicy and warming that would also fill me up at school, a quick peruse of the old cook books and I found Spinach, Chorizo and Chickpea Soup. A list was drawn up, the boy sent off to do the shopping and 2hrs later I was making this, the recipe is dead easy!

You will need:
-150g Chorizo Sausage
- 1 Onion
- Tinned Chickpeas (drained)
- 1.5l Chicken Stock
- 1tsp Tomato Puree
- 100g Spinach
- 1 clove Garlic

Recipe serves 4 - 255kcals, 15g fat, 15.8g carb, 12.7g protein

1 - Slice up the Chorizo and onion, heat 2tsp olive oil and then cook off Chorizo and onion until the fat has rendered from the chorizo - drain off the fat.

2 - Add Chickpeas, chicken stock and Tomato puree, mix, bring to the boil and then simmer for 40mins.

3 - Take off heat, blend half the mixture and then stir back together. Add in Spinach and any other veg of choice, simmer for 5 - 10 mins

4 - Serve or store in containers for the rest of the week.

I store my soup in jam jars that I can just pop in the freezer and take out the night before work, it helps me weigh everything out and track it all. This is a yummy, warming soup that is so easy to make.

Let me know if you make this soup? How do you store your soups? xx

A Day Out ~ Spitalfields City Farm

On Saturday we got bundled up in coats and gloves and headed out into London. I'm working through a list of places to visit in London that are free or low cost. One place that I wanted to go was to a City Farm, and fancied Spitalfields as its near to the market and the massive vintage clothing market as well!

We hopped on the train from Watford, then tubed to it Liverpool Street Station and 2mins later we were walking through Spitalfields. After a quick google, we headed down Brick lane and literally 2mins after that we were walking through the gates of the City Farm. It was very odd as you have the financial capital in the background, yet there are donkeys and cows moments away. I loved wandering round, we saw this gorgeous donkey who was very friendly as well as other animals.

We then wandered back to Spitalfields Market and had a late lunch at The Diner, we both had burgers and milkshakes. After that we were stuffed, but I could still squeeze in a Costa Hot Chocolate. We headed back to Watford and crashed out on the sofa when we got back, both tuckered out from all the fresh air.

I'm already planning another day out in London, I love finding the hidden gems like this, if you have any recommendations then please let me know! What's your favourite farmyard animal? xx

Sunday Make Up Shake Up #20

Evening all, hope the weekend has seen you well - I've spent the day planning, marking and cooking for the week ahead - lots of recipes coming up in the next couple of weeks!

This week at school should be a busy one, so I've picked things that I know will stick around on the skin for a long period of time:

- Smashbox Studio Skin Foundation - I love this for when I know I'm having pictures taken, no flashback, even coverage and suitable for my stressy skin at the moment.

- Benefit Erase Paste - Stressy skin means a high coverage of concealer is needed, so out comes this! With a dusting of powder this is great for under eyes and over spots.

- Benefit 10 Box Blush - Contour and blush in one box, an oldie but a good one, I've had this ages and its still going strong, I really should show it more love.

- MUA Undress Me Too Palette - This has sat unloved for a while, having used it today I don't know why I've missed the one out for so long, but its back and better then ever!

- Jelly Pong Pong Fairy Lashes - No idea what this is like, it was in a Glossy Box and so I thought I would give it a try!

- Seventeen Photo Flawless Liner - This has always been a good liner, it lasts,  not too dark or too light and photo's really well.

There are my picks for this week, lots of things I can't wait to play with this week, what bits have you picked for this week? Have you picked any of these before? xx

Project Bathroom 10 Pan

Does anyone else, especially as a blogger seem to start lots of bottles of products and then never get round to using them all up? I seem to end up with loads of half empty bottles, or bottles that are given as gifts that never get used. So, in a bid to clear out before Xmas I'm embarking on a project bathroom 10pan. For those who don't know what it is, I've picked 10 products which need clearing out and aim to get them used up.

All of the products I've picked are ones which are about 50% full, or are small sized and can be used easily. All of the products are either ones that I've bought myself or those that have been given to me as Xmas presents from my classes over the years (yes I'm a horder!)

The 10 products I've picked are;
- Dove Summer Glow Fair to Medium x 2
- Dove Summer Glow Medium to Dark
- Soap & Glory The Firminator
- Soap & Glory Return to Slender
- Virgin Vie Fantasia Body Shimmer x2
- La Roche Posey Effaclar Toner
-Umberto Giannini Blow Dry Straight Cream
- Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor

I'm hoping to have all of these used up by Xmas, any that get finished earlier will get replaced by other items in my stash, so keep a look out for any updates.

I would love it if you got involved with this as well, it doesn't have to be 10 items, any amounts of items to use up will do. Let me know if you get involved? What bits do you have hanging around? xx

Sunday Makeup Shakeup #19

Week 1 of school down, only 6 weeks left until Xmas holidays. 1st full week of No Spend November and it hasn't gone too bad, I managed to walk through Boots today without imploding, but the need for warmer clothes is growing as the temperature drops. I'm also having a massive sort through of my make up stash so this weeks picks are some really old bits that are on their last legs - can't wait to have these out of the collection!

- Maybelline Pure BB cream - I used this today and sadly I really disliked this today. A lovely tinted moisturiser, but it does naff all for coverage or my red cheeks are the moment. I'm mixing this with a more full coverage foundation, not pictured as it wont last the week as its a sample.
- Benefit It Stick - A good concealor, very cream and works well under the eyes and a few more pesky spots that need it. I do like this as I can throw it in my makeup bag and then touch up throughout the day.
- 17 Vintage Love Palette - lots of neutral shimmers, I love this for every day smokey eye, an oldie but I've just started to hit pan on a couple of the colours.
- Avon GlimmerStick - a twist up eyeliner, I started off my obsession with makeup at Avon so it's nice to revisit some old favourites.
- Bourjois 2en1 Mascara - I bought this as an emergency last Xmas when I realised I had left my makeup at home, its not a bad little mascara.
- Rimmel Scandaleyes Volume - Another mascara from the bottom of the stash, its time it got used up.
- Sleek Blush in Rose Gold - I love the pinky shimmer of this, lovely winter shade.
- Mac Harmony - Contour to the max, I do have some cheekbones somewhere!
- Benefit Browzing - Does what it says on the tin.

This has turned into more of a, using up and getting rid makeup shake then normal but its the theme I'm working with at the moment - I need to get cleared out as I have so much stuff that is not needed or used, need to make room for Xmas bits and pieces!

What have you picked for this week? xx

FOTD #1

L'Oreal True Match Foundation, Benefit Big Beautiful Eyes, Rimmel Retro Glam Mascara, Mac Harmony, Benefit Rockateur, Collection Fast Stroke Liner, No 7 BB Lips

Hello my face - so I always seem to be posting FOTD on Instagram but never on here so thought I would add it in, I shake up my make up every week so this is how I've been wearing the bits that I picked last Sunday.

I'm slowly learning how to use liquid eyeliner but loving it, I've work it in a thin line, thick line, winged line, a horrendous mess of a line, but its slowly getting better!

So there we have, an autumnal FOTD. What do you think? Is this a post you want to see on the blog? xx

Tuesday 5 November 2013

WIWT - Electric Blue Check

Cobalt Jumper - Primark
Boots - New Look (Old)
Stupid Grin - Priceless

I'm not a fashion blogger, but I'm slowly getting used to taking pictures, please bear with me but I'm enjoying showing what I wear.

This little outfit is one of my favourites at the moment - I've fallen completely in love with check, tartan, anything! I'm constantly pinning checked outfits or items to my Pinterst, even looking at it for home decor inspiration!

So, last month I decided to pick up some bits from Boohoo. I've never shopped at Boohoo, purely for the fact that everything looks too short for the less slim, tall ladies of the world, no one needs to see my arse on display! I picked the check smock dress as I liked the shape of it. It sits nicely at the waist and then flares out over tummy and stops just above the knee. I was worried that it would be slightly shorter at the back due to my sticky out booty - however it actually sat lower there. I wore it with this cobal blue crop jumper from Primark as the dress is sleeveless. Teamed with black tights and boots, it was a super comfy outfit for work.

Now I need to go and find other ways to wear this, I'm thinking a white shirt underneath and some different coloured jumpers on top, look out for more outfit posts! How would you wear this? xx

Review - Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation

*Warning - this post contains images of Make Up Free Faces which some viewers may find offensive.

Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation - £5.99
For all the oily skinned girls out there, foundation shopping is a real pain as you know it will only last a couple of hours. Anything that claims to provide 'a matte finish' is a plus, but most of the time their a let down! Plus, we can't always rock the dewy finish without looking like an oil slick! But this season, skin is meant to have a 'velvet finish' not dewy but somewhere in the middle.

To get this finish, the air whipped gel like foundation is back, and Rimmel have reformulated and repackaged their Stay Matte Foundation as part of this trend. I've used the old formula Stay Matte for some time, I quite like it, not too cakey, good coverage and lasts most of the day at work, but the new Stay Matte is even better.

A thicker consistency then the old, you need less product for the same sort of finish. I didn't have high hopes for it, but actually ended up being plesently surprised. You only need a small amount, rubbed into the skin with fingers and then finished blending with a brush, this has fast become one of my favourite foundations.

Review - Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation
Before - No Make-up

Review - Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation & Swatch
After - Foundation only, no concealer

Coverage wise, this leaves quite a natural finish on the skin - the before pictue shows that I have quite a lot of redness on my cheeks and around my nose, however the foundation helps to even it all out and make it look less red. Its a medium coverage foundation that dries quickly, so work fast!

In terms of how long it lasted, it was still there 12 hours later after a hectic work day, with no primer. I did find that my forehead was a tad shiney by about 3pm, but thats really good going considering it had lasted 8hrs by then. It hasn't messed with my skin, however it does cling to any dry patches and can settle into fine lines so a hefty does of moisturiser before hand would be good.

Over all, this magic foundation is a winner for me, the colour range is ok, more suitable to those of us with lighter skin tones, however if Rimmel can get their act together and get a wider range then they would be awesome! For £5.99, I can't fault this. I think I'm True Ivory, but I would recommend you going and swatching. This will be on my list for my Xmas face as there is no SPF so non of the dreaded flash back, just check moisturiser and primer!

What do you think? Have you tried this or other foundations from Rimmel? xx

Sunday Make-up Shake-up #18

I've been terrible writing these up recently - blogging is something I enjoy but struggle to find time to do at the moment! This is a cheat as its the makeup that i've had for the last week but ive enjoyed wearing it so I'm wearing it again now I'm back at school!

L'Oreal Tue Match Foundation - Mix of the two is perfect for me at the moment! I can't see what shades they are any more, I'll struggle when I have to repurchase.

Benefit Big Beautiful Eyes - I love this set for eyes and brows - the perfect everyday smokey eye.

Collection Fast Stroke Liner - I will admit that I'm rubbish at liner but this is my first foray into liquid liner that is actually a liquid - I like it at the moment, full review to come.

MAC Harmony - Perfect for contouring on a paler complexion, this has been in the stash for a while and will remain for a while I think!

Benefit Rockateur - I love a rosy, 'just been in the cold' glow, but without the actual getting cold part, so this will do to recreate that glow!

Maybelline The Rocket & Rimmel Retro Glam Mascara - Two mascaras that go together, first up a layer or two of Retro Glam and then a layer of The Rocket to seperate the lashes, leaving full lashes.

My picks for this week - I expect some of these will stay around for a while, which bits would you pick out of these? xx

Half Term Haul

So half term has now whizzed by too quickly (booo!) Back to school on Monday. No half term wouldn't be complete without a little shopping trip with my mum. We headed to Springfields Shopping  Outlet at Spalding, a medium sized outlet store of lower end shops, like the poorer brother to Bicester Village but still good nonetheless.

I knew I wanted to head to the Beauty Outlet store as a must, but we also stopped off in Marks & Spencers and Hallmark Outlet.

I didn't expect to find anything in M&S, as far as I was concerned its not a shop I normally go into, but I was surprised to pick up two pairs of jeggings, one dotty and one berry coloured, for under £30! My mum also bought me the highlighter pink jumper, it was down from £39 to £8.99, it's so comfy and snuggly. I'm really impressed with how the jumper and jeggings fit, I can see me getting a lot of wear out of them!

Next stop was Beauty Outlet Store. Think poor mans CCO, there were lots of beauty items, but the first stand I headed to was OPI. I picked up two bottles as they were  £6.99 each, 'I Brake for Manicures' and 'French Quartet for your thoughts' both from the Touring America collection back in 2011. I also picked up a W7 Dotting Tool Nail Art set for £2.99, my favourite Sally Hansen Gel Cuticle Remover for £2.99 and a bottle of Korres Conditioner for £1.99 - thought I would give it a try!

Finally I spent ages smelling all the Yankee Candles in the Hallmark Outlet store. For 90p each I thought the samplers were a bargain so picked up 3! Autumn Blooms and Warm Spice smell amazing, all warming and cosy - can't wait to burn these!

Not pictured is a baby grow from Babygap for my friend, Gap had 30% off most of their items, so a fleecy babygrow for under £10 was something I couldn't resist!

So there we have it, the last haul of November - I'm hoping this will tide me over until December - if not then I think I need a sponsor!

What have you been buying recently? What other Yankee Candles do I need? xx
